About Tarquin Mbatha
Tarquin Mbatha grew up between Harare's night markets and Cardiff's rain-slick streets, and now writes for the stage in Wales while taking his act to Lagos and Berlin every month. On stage he is Magister Wolfe, a Victorian gothic daddy. Everywhere else he is Tarquin, with a deep Welsh-Zimbabwean baritone that rolls its consonants when he performs.
His erotic life is transformation. He is a gay man and a genuine switch: he tops in character and bottoms when the costume comes off. He loves partners who treat character work as a craft, and his favorite scenes begin in writing days before and end in three or four very physical hours.
He finds the funny in the difficult and wants partners who are not afraid of being silly. After a scene there is Welsh gin in amber cups and a long conversation, in or out of role. He keeps a bottle of Pinotage he opens only for people he plans to see twice.
